A sea of granite towering above!

Yak Peak is an iconic granite peak soaring above the Coquihalla highway. Yak Check is the combination of two routes on Yak Peak. We climb the better, bottom half of Yak Crack to where it intersects the route Reality Check then climb the better, top half of Reality Check to the summit.

This provides almost 2000 feet of fun climbing with fantastic views the whole way. Along the route, you will encounter stellar features such as the 150m, 5.7 crack and the natural flake bridge. With a relatively quick approach (60 mins), bolted belays, and easy walk off, this route is a coastal favourite.

For climbers wanting to climb this route with less multi-pitch experience we recommend registering for a guided ascent of the Chief. The long routes on the Chief, such as the Squamish Buttress via Butt Face, are excellent preparatory routes for Yak Check.

Climbers on pitches 2, 3, and 4 on a beautiful summer day. look at the 150m crack!
